Air purifier to reduce dust in my room…?
how can i reduce dust in an apartment?
there is no ventilation, just a simple apartment. and the problem is mostly in my room where the window is open 24/7, i would have to dust daily to keep it clean, is there anything i can do except buy an air purifier? like, i don’t know, leave a wet towel on the window still? i dunno, i just made that up…
btw, would an air purifier be noisy?
It’s getting dusty because the window is open, air’s blowing in pollen, dirt, dander etc… You could put a 2 way fan in the window and turn it on so it is blowing outside (or a regular window fan, just put it in backwards) 2 way’s are designed for that purpose, they fit and work much better, but either or will work.. That way you can keep the window open allowing fresh air in the room w/o getting all the dust along with it… Then use another fan like a standup to cool the room..

Try duct taping a 20" x 20" ‘high filtration’ furnace air filter ($5-$10)
to the discharge side of a 20" box fan ($12-$18).
It works well on dust… even helps w/cigarette smoke.
Be careful w/ozone – a lil goes a long way…
A humidifier will also help to keep the dust to a minimum.
I bought a Honeywell purifier for a friend of mine whose son has undergone major heart surgery and needs to stay healthy. The unit itself was large…definitely not table top. I initially went in to buy another brand but was warned by the sales associate that the filters were difficult if not impossible to replace (why no one will stock it Canada i have no idea). She suggested this model that you vacuum instead. The only other suggestion I have is that you do not place the unit near you when you sleep as the machine draws all the air impurities towards it and you might be inhaling it while it runs.
