Air Purifiers?

What do you know about air purifiers?
Looking for an air purifier. Saw one at Target that never needs a filter change–you just vaccume it when its dirty. I’d like to buy it so that I don’t have to continually buy filters but will this work as well as others? Forgot the name of it but if anyone has this type can you tell me about your experience with it?
Also they all advertise that they have “quiet operation” but which ones are really quiet?
Can anyone recommend a good one?
They’re wonderful for allergy sufferers. My best suggestion is to get one with a metal plate in place of a filter. Instead of pulling out a dusty mess, you rinse it underwater. That way you’re not transferring the dust, pollens and mites around…you’re just washing them away. Or get one of the new ones that kill mold and germs with heat and need no filters.
I got mine at Hammacher Schlemmer a few years ago. They carry the best air care products.

Actually, what you need is an air cleaner. Our house if full of asthma & allergy folks. A bunch of sickos:)) I bought a Honeywell Air Cleaner that attaches to my centeral air/heat. It has 2 of those electrostat cells and 2 stainless steel filters. I am not sure what you call the cells, but it somehow zaps the air particles.
Don’t have to dust for at least a week and as long as we stay indoors, we can breathe just fine. This is the best thing I’ve ever seen to help folks with breathing problems. And of course, no dusting:))
We have had it for several years and can’t do without it. I don’t normally recommend things, but can highly recommend this.
No air purifiers, purify they dont filter you need a hepa filter
If you get one, be sure it has an ionizer. I have an oreck air purifier that works amazingly well. You can also buy an ionizer separately. The negative ions settle the dust and as a bonus, your house smells outdoorsy.
Replace your furnace filter with a Hepa Filter. They trap the dust and work better the more dust it holds (the dirtier it gets) It won’t eliminate the dust completely, but it will help cut some of it down.
It is a bit costlier but worth it….
