Cat allergies and Air Filters?
air filters for a good pet allergies?
My girlfriend just moved into a new apartment, where there was a cat, and I am allergic to cats, so I feel like shit when you visit. What would be a good air filter (not very expensive) to buy to airborne allergens? She had cleaned the carpet that helped a little, but I can still feel when I'm in Any ideas?
I tried room HEPA filters, but they are $ $ and always broke out in the first week. My advice – get off at Home Depot or Lowes and buy a month of high-quality filter in your air conditioning. poor standard air filters to filter pollen, smoke, pet hair, but the filters a month, a good job – do not forget to change once a month. These filters are marked by a number of HEPA filters and clearly indicate what% of particles of this filter, I used to buy the "miracle" of quality. If there is a housing sector that comes to you, then Febreeze the heck out of him. In addition, if the previous owners left no curtains, then you'll want to wash insurance. I heard the people who receive their work thanks to clean, and could be an option to consider if you're really desperate.

HEPA Filters Not So Effective
For Those With Dust Mite Allergy
Published in the January 2006 issue of the European Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, recent research shows that HEPA filters may be no more effective at protecting against dust mites than standard methods. Researchers from the University of Manchester’s North West Lung Centre have just discovered that vacuum cleaners with ‘high-efficiency particulate air’ (a.k.a. HEPA) filters are no more effective than standard models at reducing exposure to dust-mites.
Dog and Cat Allergen present in 100% of U.S. homes
Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology
July 2004 – Dog and Cat Allergen is found in all Homes in the United States, according to a study featured in the July 2004 Journal of Allergy & Clinical Immunology (JACI). The JACI is the peer-reviewed scientific journal of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI).
The study found that although a dog or cat had lived in only 49.1% of the homes, dog and cat allergen was detected in 100% and 99.9% respectively. The study also found that the majority of U.S. homes have levels that exceed the proposed thresholds for sensitization to these allergens.
I have an allergy to cats and I have two of them. I have an air purifier in the living room and another in my bedroom. I got them from HSN.com and they are really helpful. Down side is that you have to purchase replacement filters. I also vacuum every other day, cannot sleep with a down comforter (irritates the allergy) and do not let the cats sleep with me.
