Do home air purifiers really work?
What is the difference between an air purifier and an allergen remover?
Do the $30 – $50 models (available at Lowe’s or Home Depot, for example), really work?
There isn’t really a difference. They do the same thing. They both remove dust, impurities, and allergens from the air. The most expensive models either do it better or are just more money! If you really want a good one, go with one marked as a “True HEPA”. They remove 99.97% of allergens in the air. The newer models even have permanent HEPA filters.

Tests by organizations like Consumer Reports say that the ionic type do little or nothing but that the HEPA filter type can be effective. We have used one and we have friends whose children have respiratory ailments and they use one. We agree that they are helpful for improving indoor air quality.
