Does a split AC get fresh air from outside?

Hi,

I am planning to buy ’split AC’ to avoid dust and vehicle pollution(b’cos my house on a busy street) coming into the house. please clarify the following doubts.

1. if we have a 10×10 feet room with all windows and doors closed. With 1 person inside for how many hours will the room have breathable air(oxygen)? (for e.g 10 hours after which the person will die due to lack of oxygen)

2. will a split AC get ‘fresh air’ from outside every couple of hours OR will i have to open the windows to get the fresh air?

3. If i need to open the windows to get the fresh air, how frequently should i open the windows?

4. to prevent vehicle pollution from entering the house how good should the ‘air filter’ be? 10 micron , 5 microns filter?

5. Actually temperature is not a problem usually the temperature is very pleasant, so am i better off just buying a ‘air purifier’ rather than an ‘AC’?

Split ac units do not bring in outside air unless designed to by adding makeup air supply. There is codes for amount of outside air per person or sq. foot. Talk to reliable contractor worth the money for IAQ problems.
