How to Change Your Air Filter

How can I tell if it's time to change the air filter and what if I do not?

Couse also switch off your car

that will affect your fuel consumption as an air filter will affect the amount of air passing through the outlet and may amend the report air / fuel. If you go out, and it looks disgusting … replacement. They arent very expensive, but damage to your system and reduces fuel consumption Fuel is not worth it. In addition, relatively easy to change yourself. No help.

I recommend on Honda Civic’s to greese the bolts once in awhile that fasten the top of the air filter cover because they can rust and If they do they bind with the metal studs that are mounted in plastic. If they are rusted together the metal stud damages the plastic and it’s hard to get the bolts out.

also this guy was lucky, alot of air filters are no where near as easy as that to get to. I drive a c2 with a small engine, hence quite an empty engine bay and its still very very difficult to even get to the filter.

I have a 2000 Porsche Carrera and I’m looking at replacing my air filter myself. However, I can’t find it!! I looked in the owners manual, and it doesn’t give the location. I’m tired of taking my car into the dealership and having them bend me over every time I go in for what should be a simple operation. If anyone knows where this is located on my car, I would appreciate it. Thanks a bunch.

wow that was the best design I’ve seen besides engines with carbs. I replaced a filter on an RX350 and an Eclipse and it’s a bit of pain in the ass to open the cover since you gotta move and unscrew a couple of things to get to the filter element.

I looked at a picture of a Porsche Carrera’s engine bay and it’s in the box to the right….that huge box with a pipe going to it, there is an oil cap next to it.

haha yeah, it’s different on a couple of luxury cars… but usually people that have luxury cars don’t mind paying for labor/maintenance
