My window AC was working fine until tonight. All of a sudden it stopped blowing air.I vacuumed the filter it started working again. It works fine now but I need to remove the front panel to clean the filter or change it but I do not know how.The unit seems whole so I have no idea how to remove it.And I saw that behind the AC it was frozen is that normal. Please help it is august and hot My PC keeps on shutting down because of the heat so I need the AC.
Thanks.
just pull and lift on the top corners of the grill on the front. and no its not normal to have ice. its probably due to the dirty filter. it would be best to shut the unit off until the ice melts. dont try to pry it off. you could damage the coil. also leaving the on and running the unit could kill the compressor.

There are filters that will fit your window. They are pretty nitfy looking, much better than the ghetto-style stuff that I used to put together. It’s a great way to get the breezes without the sneezes. lol, I can’t believe I just made that up.

There are some handy window filters that will expand to fit in most windows. A window or portable air conditioner will also help with air cleaning and can be used in conjunction with a room air purifier.
A little common sense on the physics of air. You want to open your windows to get the fresh air in, right? You also want to filter the air that comes in. The only problem is you want air to flow freely into your room, but you are putting a blockage in the window. Filters work on the assumption that air is being pulled through them. Filters are very inefficient when you try to blow air through them, but very effective if you pull air through them. You will have to set up a fan inside the room to pull the air into your room, then the filters can do something. Also, keep in mind that the filters that fit in your window are only effective for large particles (1 micron and larger). Most people who suffer from allergies and asthma are affected by allergens less than 1 micron.
