Dirty College house = making my asthma worse?
I’m living off campus in a typical college house this semester, and I’ve had asthma my whole life, I’m also on the cross country team at my college. The last month or two (aka. since i moved into my house) my asthma has seemed to be worse…just all-around symptoms. What are some steps I can take to improve my symptoms in the house / my bed room? I’ve been vaccuming my carpet, and I have an ionic breeze air cleaner, but i hear the ozone it produces is worse than using it. help!
make sure you clean real well not only vacuuming but also dusting. If you are using a different mattress than before you might want to put on an allergy cover if you are allergic to dust mites. Make sure when you are clean you use products that will kill mold and mildew if they bother you.
Make sure you take your medicine regularly and the proper doses. A lot of the advice I could give you depends a lot on whether your asthma is exercise or allergy induced. If its exercise induced then maybe you have to cut back on the amount of running you do. If its allergy induced maybe you need to take an allergy medicine such as Allegra. Also if it is allergy induced then depending on what you are allergic to will determine what steps you should take to help prevent contact with those allergens.
