Does air travelling via a simple fan (no ionizer) through an electrostatic filter (like Filtrete) get ionized?
Just to clarify a prior question, I had; I’ve heard that ionized air can be potentially harmful (i.e. free radicals) so I want to avoid air cleaners that ionize air. The 3M Filtrete electrostatic polyolefin-based filters (very common in furnace filters, and now as part of a standalone air purifier) are pre-charged with a static charge to attract dirt, dust, and particles of inflowing air.
My question is, as non-ionized (regular) air travels through the filter (via a simple fan, there is no ionizer involved) is there any way that it could pick up any of the charge on the electrostatic filter, or that the air can become somewhat ionized in any way or form after it leaves the filter? Now, AFAIK, air doesn’t conduct charges well, so my guess would be no, but I’d like to have an expert opinion.

Questions about HVAC!?
I need someone is knowledgeable about HVAC. Since, when a contractor suggest something for the HVAC,I can’t tell if they are being helpful or trying to make more money off of me and I will lose in the end.
1.I was wondering about getting a new air cleaner/purifier since my dad is using a standard air filter, but my mom and me have allergies, but my dad tend to forget things like to change the air filter every month or so…
So,is it a good choice for me to get the Infinity Air Purifier and it claim that I need no cleaning at all,but I need your guys’ insight?
Here is the link:Air Cleaners – Carrier
How about Carrier humidifiers, ventilators, and UV lamps? Review(s)?
2.As a homeowner, are you suppose to have the original copy of the permit or no?
When do you know that you need to get a permit?
3.What do you guys mean that the brands of furnace are the same,as in the same company build different brands or the sneaky contractor put a sticker on it and call it that?
4.So,if a labor warranty is 5 years, then the company that built the furnace or whatever will pay the contractor for the labor, correct?

Air Deodorizer / Air Cleaner help?
Hi Everyone,
First time using this, and it’s because I’m desperate for help.
My Question is this:
My roomate who lives with me, always stays in his room (yes its terrible), and the thing is he often eats takeout in his room and doesnt throw it away right away, so it starts to smell up his room, and it leaks into the apartment. I’ve asked him to clean up more often but being in university, hes often busy which is understandable.
So I’ve tried the plug in air fresheners but I think MASKING the problem isn’t effective as solving it. I want to know if anyone has any good recommendations for a machine that effectively eliminates ODORS as the top priority?
I’m a bit confused as to whether air cleaners / air purifiers actually tackle the odor issue as well? For example, the Surround Air XJ2100 or the Ionic Breeze. Most of these focus on cleaning the air from allergens etc., not really the ODOR in the air.
Hope you guys can help. Thanks so much!
