So my girlfriend has two cats that are driving my allergies nuts. I’ve seen the ads for air purifiers that are suppost to help this kind of thing, but I’m kind of sceptical about shelling out 0 for an air filter without a fan.

So anyway, has anyone with pet allergies tried one of these new fangled HEPA/Ionized Air filters, do they work well on cat allergies? and is there a type or brand that you’d recommend?

Any other tips on treating cat allergies?

i have very bad asthma, but only when it comes to being around any cleaning products, pollen, dust…i also have 4 cats and im sure the cat hair starts it up too….i am looking for an ionic breeze or an air purifier, that’s cost effective and also does not eat up a lot of electric so that i can leave it on at all times…anyone have any suggestions or links for them?

I have two cats, and I live in the city, so between the dander and the pollution the air around here less that perfect. I noticed a huge difference when the Sharper Image ones were working, but after three defective products I’m weary of giving them another try.

I’ve had three Sharper Image Ionic Breeze purifiers, but all three have broken within a month of use (they started producing so much static that I could hear them from outside).

I also have a UVC Air Purifier and a Himalayan Salt Lamp, but I’m honestly not sure that either one does anything at all.

Any suggestions?

I have 3 cats and a black lab. I have to dust/vacuum ALL the time to keep up with it and I hate it. Was looking into buying a room air purifiers to help cut down on the dust, but wondered how much it would really help. Consumer report.org rates a couple as very good at removing dust, but thought Id ask for some opinions. Thanks

we just moved into our new house, and the old lady who lived there before us most of had a hundred cats, because the whole place smelled like litter. We have been able to air of the place since it has been getting warmer, but for some reason we cant seem to get the smell out of our bedroom…. maybe thats where she kept them… . We have aired it out just as much as the rest of the house, used fans, pet powder when we vacuum, an air purifier. We don’t want to rip the carpets up, plus i don’t think we’re allowed since we’re renting, but we have to get rid of the smell. i cant stand it anymore. Can anyone help??

are they the same? We have cats and a 2 year old little girl. She has been suffering from some kind of allergies (at least that’s what the doc thinks). She and the cats have been together since she first came home so I’m not really sure that it’s an allergy to cats. She coughs & has clear runny nose often. She is on Zyrtec now for a few more days. If that doesn’t help (which it really hasn’t all that much) then she might have to get allergy testing done. I try to keep up with the cleaning but it’s hard. We have a 100 year old house, not sure if that matters but I threw it in anyway.

Would a purifer or cleaner help? If so which one? I might need 2 but I am confused as to what to buy.
nope. not boarding them for a few wks. not possible. not just the money either. we’d still have cat hair floating around everywhere. that stuff sticks.

My home is almost 1,800 sq. ft. but we own 3 cats and my boyfriend smokes in the house. We keep the house clean, since I can be a clean freak, but there is still a small stench, that was actually here when we first moved in. We’ve had inspectors come and look, cleaned tremendously, and as both of us being college students right now we need kind of temporary relief considering we don’t have a whole bunch of money nor time to paint/pull up carpet and are on a tight budget. Any help would be great for just some temporary relief for the time being. Thank you so much in advance!

My some has some allergies. We have two cats and a pug. He always as a stuffy nose and in the morning as post nasal problems in the morning. Other then that he is fine. Do you think an air purifiers will help or just a waste of money?
