I have two cats, and I live in the city, so between the dander and the pollution the air around here less that perfect. I noticed a huge difference when the Sharper Image ones were working, but after three defective products I’m weary of giving them another try.

I’ve had three Sharper Image Ionic Breeze purifiers, but all three have broken within a month of use (they started producing so much static that I could hear them from outside).

I also have a UVC Air Purifier and a Himalayan Salt Lamp, but I’m honestly not sure that either one does anything at all.

Any suggestions?

While the Hunter Air Purifiers are cheap(less than Oreck XL or Ionic Breeze)) we discovered a hidden cost every 3 months…AIR PURIFIER BUYERS BEWARE!!

I have two white, long haired cats that I adore, but their hair is everywhere! Despite my best efforts to keep the house clean, it’s like it’s in the air. I recently bought an air purifier (ionic pro turbo) thinking it would help and didn’t realize until after I bought it that it does not collect the hair. I suppose it still helps with my allergies, but I also really need something to pull their hair out of the air in my house.

Lint brushes have become my best friend because I cant make it out of the house in black clothes without having white hair on me. Please help!

I have a cat & have breathing problems. Getting rid of the cat is NOT an option. Would an air purifier/filter help remove some of the allergens from the air inside my house? Can anyone tell me a good brand of machine that would clean the air in approx. 500 square feet? And would something like this reduce the amount of dander on floors & furniture? Thanks!

Hi. My husband and I are considering buying a house that we like very much, but it has a problem: the current owners have a cat to whom I am very allergic. It’s really, really bad: even taking allergy medication and using my asthma inhaler ahead of time didn’t really help. Here is what I am wondering: would getting the carpets professionaly steam-cleaned work to address this issue? Or would I more likely need to actually replace the carpeting itself? Also, what about adding a whole-house air purifier to the HVAC system? Is it likely to make much of a difference?

If you could please let me know your thoughts, that would be great. We love this house but not if it will keep making me sick. Thanks!
P.S. There is no cat ODOR per se — you’d never know there was a cat until you saw it. It’s the poor cat’s dander that is making me allergic, not an odor or anything like that.
