air filter/purifier – need help!?
i am looking for a good recomendation for a air filter/purifier. i know this is crazy, but i heard about one that will turn on when someone in the room ‘farts’. i need it for odor, mold, pet dander and everything else. i have a newborn, and i live next to a person who has a moldy house.
How can I fix my dust problem? No matter what I do, dust returns within a few hours?
I moved into a two bedroom apartment about 4 months ago with a friend and ever since, I’ve noticed that there is just SO MUCH DUST everywhere. No matter what I do… dust, wipe with wet paper towels, pledge, etc… there is some new dust within a few hours and it slowly piles up. I have also been getting sick MUCH easier since I moved in and think it may have to do with this whole dust issue.
My roommate has a cat and also smokes pot in the house sometimes, but usually in her room. I ALWAYS keep my door closed so the cat never goes in and my room never smells like weed. I know I’m not allergic to cats (my parents had them the whole time i was growing up). I have a large air purifier in my room i purchased two months ago and i’ve already had to change the filters on that 3 times. They should be lasting at least a month or two. Also, I know there is no mold in the apartment – it was just built less than 4 years ago. I keep my windows closed. We just changed the air filters about a month and a half ago also. I just don’t know what to do. I realize things get dusty… I have lived in an apartment all by myself before. But seriously, this is like nothing i’ve seen! And I think I may be getting sick because of it, or at least a weak immune system.
Anyways, if anyone has any clue as to why this may be happening and what i can do to fix the problem, please let me know. Thanks so much!
Air purifiers/air cleaners……………..?
asked this in another category as well….
are they the same? We have cats and a 2 year old little girl. She has been suffering from some kind of allergies (at least that’s what the doc thinks). She and the cats have been together since she first came home so I’m not really sure that it’s an allergy to cats. She coughs & has clear runny nose often. She is on Zyrtec now for a few more days. If that doesn’t help (which it really hasn’t all that much) then she might have to get allergy testing done. I try to keep up with the cleaning but it’s hard. We have a 100 year old house, not sure if that matters but I threw it in anyway.
Would a purifer or cleaner help? If so which one? I might need 2 but I am confused as to what to buy.
nope. not boarding them for a few wks. not possible. not just the money either. we’d still have cat hair floating around everywhere. that stuff sticks.
Emmy’s Mummy–we have mold issues too. Although not sure how much is mold. Hard to explain. lol. thanks.
John–thanks! I will look into those very soon. Getting sleepy here. lol.
Thanks to Emmy’s Mummy & John!

Austin Air Purifiers on the Today Show – Is your home making you sick?
Your home is supposed to be your sanctuary. A place where you can be safe from all the dangers of the outside world, but if you suffer from chronic fatigue, headaches or have difficulty breathing, you just may be living inside the enemy. In this clip, “Today” show host Matt Lauer talks with Ron and Lisa Beres, founders of greennest.com, who tested the home of David and Kellie Ford from southern California, about keeping our homes healthy. Both the Austin Air HealthMate air purifier and Austin Air Babys Breath air purifier are highlighted as solutions for cleaning household air to prevent sickness. There are some very significant points made by Ron and Lisa about Austin Air purifiers. First, Lisa emphasizes a little know fact that indoor air is actually MORE polluted than the outdoor air! When it is found that the air in David and Kellies home is unhealthy, she recommends the Austin Air HealthMate air purifier which uses a medical-grade HEPA air filter. Ron goes on to explain that HEPA air filters remove 99% of particulates out of the air, and unlike other air filters, HEPA filters will remove gases, chemicals, and odors. Later, Lisa details the importance of cleaning your air with Austin Air purifiers. She mentions that childhood asthma is currently the most chronic disease in children right now, and shockingly, babies are being born with over 200 hundred chemicals already in their blood! Please watch the clip and see for yourself.
Why top rated air purifiers don’t work but IQ Air Pro does
Is your air purifier sealed like the manufacturers’ tout? Be careful which air purifier you buy… you may be blowing your $ away! We provide evidence of one air cleaner, Blue Air, which does not accomplish air purification. It merely blows the dust, like an expensive fan, around your home. Which air purifier is best for allergies, etc?
I suffer major allergies from dust, pollen, mold and pets. I want an all-around purifier that helps with these and gas and chemicals.
I have done EXTENSIVE research and YES I know IQ Air is best but it’s rather large and expensive. Blue Air and Austin Air are highly rated as well, but they’re rather large for my bedroom. I have been looking into the Sharp Plasmacuster (not the model with the annoying upkeep of the humidifier) and Rabbit Air as well, which are more stylish and a tad cheaper. Anyone with experience with any of these or suggestions?
