The following is a clip that discusses the findings of the Children’s Health Study. This study, begun in 1992, was conducted by a team of scientists at the University of Southern California. The funding for this project was provided by the California Air Resources Board. Scientists identified a large population of 5500 children from 12 communities. The selected many different regions within Southern California with differing types and levels of air pollution. Just wondering what is a good value, good quality filter. I don’t want to spend much over 0 for it. I’ve had some general allergic type issues lately that I’m fairly sure are related to seasonal allergies/pet allergy (Yes, I have a dog and have a mild allergy to pets.. he’s worth it). Please stick with the facts (I.e. how small the particles it can filter are, how much air it moves, how loud the thing is etc…) Thanks for any and all responses!

I know not all ionizer air filters create ozone, and I have pets that I can’t have near ozone. Other ions are fine. I just haven’t been using the "Performance booster" for fear it creates ozone. I have Holmes HAP412N-U HEPA-Type Mini Tower Air Purifier.

we live in a 10 acre field away from the major road. the whole yard even the drive way is grass, not dirt. we have a humidifier, air filter and change air filter regularly, and we dust once a week. But our house looks like it hasn’t been dusted for months two days later.
why is it? what am i doing wrong or is there something i can do to reduce dust? i’m going crazy because i’ve tried dusting every other day even with a damp cloth so dust won’t spread in the air while i’m doing it, the next day, there it is. we vacuum once or sometimes twice a week and mop floors once a week, and like i said, we have air purifier and humidifier. i’m not exagerating, i’ve never seen a house get sooo dusty so fast like ours. please give me some advice.

We live in a cozy suburban home with two domestic short hair cats, and two dogs,(a teacup chihuahua and a beagle/hound mix). The cats are strictly indoors and the dogs only go outside to potty and for walks. We keep all of our pets clean and they are all well taken care of but the shedding and pet dander are becoming a concern of mine because they are irritating my allergies a little. We regularly vacuum but seeing as it’s too cold outside to leave the windows open to help keep the house aired out I was wondering the best way to keep the air in the house and everything in it fresh from pet dander and odors. Are there any sprays or cleaners? And would an air purifier or something like that help?

I suffer major allergies from dust, pollen, mold and pets. I want an all-around purifier that helps with these and gas and chemicals.

I have done EXTENSIVE research and YES I know IQ Air is best but it’s rather large and expensive. Blue Air and Austin Air are highly rated as well, but they’re rather large for my bedroom. I have been looking into the Sharp Plasmacuster (not the model with the annoying upkeep of the humidifier) and Rabbit Air as well, which are more stylish and a tad cheaper. Anyone with experience with any of these or suggestions?
