What air purifier would you recommend?
Do you own an air purifier? How does it work for allergies? What brand is yours? Would you recommend this?
Bionaire have a filter and it works pretty well. Is this column-shaped, about 3 feet high and sometimes you can hear some vibration plastic screens. If I had to buy another, I consider a short visit to vibrate square noise. I also search for Consumer Reports. @ CR is supported my purchase and its recommendations helped me make a better decision. The one I did a good job of cleaning the air and help my allergies a bit.

Jason,
You need to be careful with anything that produces "ions." This is done by exposing a negative electrode to a stream of air. A byproduct of this is ozone, which is a potent irritant and can contribute to allergy development. These types of devices should not be used while you are in the room. While I have an Ionic Breeze, I operate it from 8pm to 5am, when we are not likely to be in the kitchen. It does a great job in eliminating cooking and trash odors though!
The upside to ozone generation is that it reacts with organics to break them down. This includes volatile compounds, exhaust, and dander.
First, I would recommend using a Hoover vacuum with allergen filtration bags. This is a coarser bag than HEPA, but because it doesn’t catch micro-dirt, the suction stays stronger, longer. This results in a much cleaner carpet and floor over time.
Second, the Oreck air purifier is probably the best on the market. It does generate ozone in the chamber to get rid of organics, but it has a secondary grid to reduce any excess ozone back down. It has a fan, which means that it turns over the air more often and the Breeze. It also uses far less electricity than a HEPA blower.
My parents have two and I can always tell when it is on. The air quality is good. The ions will help stuff fall to the floor. And a good vacuum will help you remove it from your household. They have had both for about four years now and don’t have any problems.
