Don’t get that if it has an ionizer it may actually causes ozone if you are in a sealed room and that can irratate your lungs, especially if you are suseptible to asthma or have mesothelioma. Get a good air purifier with a HEPA filter and a UV light. You need good strong fan to circulate air. Though you wil have to replace the filter every 6 months or so, it works a lot better then ozone and electrostatic plate purifiers that you wipe of or wash with water. If you want to do the whole house purifier don’t get an ozone one they bring a strange metalic taste to the air. But get a high grade UV light system can help kill virus and other bacteria. You can instal in you Furnace and then by a high grade HEPA filtration system on your air return or you can purchase a HEPA installation kit that will attach to your entire system. You will have to have the fan on your AC running all the time but only the fan not the AC. It really sucks the air and cleans it really really well. If you are just wanting the air to smell good and kill a few germs use lysol or oust a lot cheaper.

The Ionic Breeze form Sharper Image, but they suck.

Okay because of the answer above me, I will elaborate. The device that you refer to is from sharper image. It does cause passive air circulation as a result of the ionization of the air and it does create a very limited amount of ozone (that is the process that you see as causing a small blue light. It is not UV.

The reason I say they suck, is that like most of these highly publicized home products, while it does do what it says, it is at such a weak level as to be almost ridiculous.

The answerer above cautions about ozone producers. Like most uneducated answers she is stating something she has herd but has no experience with. Ozone generators are widely used in commercial applications for germ sterilization. True at extremely high concentrations they can be a respiratory irritant but you would exit the premise before it became an issue as ozone also creates an Oder at medium concentrations like that of chlorine. Commercial ozone producers were the inspiration for the Ionic Breeze and a host of other fad marketing devices geared to the general public.

Ozone is the by product of lightning it is what you smell in the freshness of the air after a good rain and thunderstorm. If you have a central air system you can get a ozone generater designed to work in it in your home for about the cost of the weak Ionic Breeze. It is called The Duct Zone. I have two in our 5000 sq ft home and they are tied to the air system so when ever the blower turns on, they do too. They constantly purify the air, kill germs and give the home a fresh just after the storm scent. They are adjustable for strength so if you ever start to smell the ozone you just turn it down a little. They require only little maintanance (wiping off the cathode and ozone producing screen, and actually work as you would expect unlike most purifiers. Look them up. You won’t be sorry.

IONIC BREEZE………DONT WASTE YOUR $$$

I will agree on two points. The Ionic breeze and Ionic Breeze quadra ar the biggest ripoffs. Plus they constantly break down, ive had THREE. Yes, they do produce a strange smell to your air but you may get used to it, though guest will taste it on their tongue, nothing like the fresh smell after the rain. But you can turn that function off so its not a big deal. I would recommend a good filtration system and remeber to clean your ducts and change your filters otherwise you are just going to circulate dirty air in your home.
